Well, I guess the time has come. After 15 years, I’m finally closing the studio down.
Or am I?
According to rumors, AI has arrived to take over photography, and probably the world.
Is AI Taking Over The WorldAi is here to stay. Pamela at 2 Sunflowers Photography is embracing the wave and growing with it.
Except…
I’ve heard this story before. When digital first came along, photographers swore film was dead, the craft was ruined, and that anyone with a memory card could suddenly call themselves a professional. Some still argue that digital cheapened the art. But here’s what I’ve seen: when you adapt to the tools instead of fighting them, photography doesn’t get weaker...it gets stronger.
Did Digital Kill FilmWe can look at AI the same way we looked at digital cameras. Either grow or die...
That’s how I see AI. It’s not replacing me. It’s helping me. Restoring backgrounds that once took me hours now takes minutes. Sports banners and extractions that used to drain me are suddenly fun again. And with that time saved, I get to pour more energy into the parts of my work that matter most, like carefully retouching portraits and creating real connections with clients.
And here’s the bigger picture: I actually think AI might push photography forward. Because in a world where anyone can generate something “perfect” with a click, people start to crave what’s real even more. Real connection. Real experiences. Real photographs that hold truth in them. AI can smooth out the workflow, but reality always wins in the long run. Fake can’t replace the feeling of a genuine moment captured forever.
The Love Between a Mother and BabyAI can never replace real love, real connection, real photographs....
So no, I’m not shutting down. I’m embracing AI. Because it isn’t going anywhere, and if we let it, it can make both our work and our lives better. All while reminding the world just how much they still need the real thing.
So here I am still creating, still adapting, and still believing in the power of what’s real with a little AI sprinkled in there too.
